Nancy Faye Rose, affectionately known as “Nanny” to her family, friends, and community, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 24, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born in Four Oaks, North Carolina, to Edgar Lewis Lee and Effie Amelia Parker Lee, “Faye” spent much of her life in Smithfield, where she built a life centered around her family, her faith, and the people she loved.

A devoted Christian woman, Faye’s love for the Lord was at the heart of everything she did. Her faith guided the way she lived, loved, and cared for others. She had a servant’s heart and found joy in making sure those around her were taken care of. Whether it was making sure everyone had something to eat, checking in on loved ones, or simply wanting to know that everyone was happy and doing well, Nanny had a way of showing her love through the everyday things.

Faye spent much of her working life at Fresenius Kabi in Clayton, North Carolina as a line operator. Never one to sit still and always fiercely independent, she continued working after retirement, taking a part-time position as a greeter at Walmart. There, her familiar face and friendly conversations made her a recognizable presence in the community. Many came to know her simply as Faye or Nanny, often stopping to visit and catch up with her. Even long after she left Walmart, people continued to remember her fondly and asked about her.

Above all, Nanny cherished her family. She cared deeply about their well-being and wanted nothing more than to see those she loved happy, healthy, and walking in faith. Her love extended beyond her family to the many friends and neighbors who knew her. Her love extended beyond her family to the many friends and neighbors who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in her unwavering faith and the knowledge that she is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Lewis Lee and Effie Amelia Parker Lee; her husbands, Therman Edwin Coats and Ralph Rose; and her daughter, Robin Gibbs.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bratton; her grandchildren, Jeremy Denning, Jason Ray, and Amber Bridges; her great-grandchildren, Destiny Denning, Kyle Denning, Dustin Denning, Madison Denning, Yates Bridges, and Robin Ray; and her great-great-grandchildren, Riley Tart, along with numerous other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Faye’s life on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church located at 923 M Durwood Stephenson Pkwy, Smithfield, NC 27577, with Pastor Stewart Dove officiating.
