Myrtle Capps Rose Godwin, age 100, of Smithfield, passed away at her home on October 22, 2021.  Born in Johnston County on March 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Mary Price Capps.  Mrs. Godwin was preceded in death by her husband, William V. Godwin and her step-son Wayne Godwin.  She was a member of Tee's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Tee's Chapel FWB Church on Tuesday, October 26 from 1-2 pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are her sons, David Rose and wife Annette of Smithfield, Ray Rose and wife LaVerne of Princeton; daughters, Edna Bernheisel and husband Albert of Pine Level, Sue Byrd of Smithfield, Debbie Johnson and husband Chuck of Surf City, Pat Baine of Pine Level; step-daughter Sharon Askew of Pikeville; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren.
