Four Oaks – Mildred Ophelia Nixon Lockett, age 83, passed away January 16, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born, July 15, 1941, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late Isham and Dessie Nixon. Mildred served in the United States Air Force and US Army. She retired at the rank of LTC as a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church in Smithfield. Mildred was also a member of the MOAA and American Legion.

A memorial service will be held February 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Griffin Lockett and son, Corey Lockett and wife Emily.
