Mildred Evans Crumpler, 95, of Pine Level, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest. Born on July 7, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Bud and Lillian West Evans. Mrs. Crumpler was a 1938 graduate of Wilson's Mills High School and Valedictorian of her class. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who was a true inspiration to everyone she encountered. Mrs. Crumpler was a longtime member of Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School for over 35 years, served as President of the Ladies' Ministry and Deaconess in the church. Through her teachings and the life she lived before others, she touched and changed the hearts of many people. She always served her Lord, family and friends in all aspects of life.Mrs. Crumpler was preceded in death by her husband Lebert Crumpler, a son Sherwood Crumpler and a daughter Carol Crumpler McLeod. She is survived by her daughters Sue Crumpler Romano of Houston, Texas and Hope Crumpler Keith and husband Jimmy of Wake Forest; grandchildren Chris McLeod and wife Angie of High Point, Sherrie McLeod Rook and husband Pat of Peoria, Arizona, Paul Williams of Pine Level and Matthew Horan of Houston, Texas; step-grandchildren Jamie Keith and Kimberly Keith Freeman; five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and seven step great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 31, at 2:00 PM in the Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Roger Banks and Rev. Curtiss Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in the Oliver-Wiggs Cemetery near Pine Level. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 1 to 2 PM.
