Michael Samuel Higgins, age 56, of Smithfield, passed away on January 29 in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Born in Johnston County on July 2, 1964, he was the son of Bobby Ray Higgins of Smithfield and the late Brenda Toole Higgins.  Michael was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Peggy Godwin Higgins.

The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma on Tuesday, February 2, from 2-3 pm followed by a memorial service at 3:oo PM.

Surviving, in addition to his father, are a son, Zachary Higgins of Mebane; a daughter, McKenzie Higgins of Hillsborough; a brother, Patrick Bryan Higgins of Dunn; and two grandchildren.
