Mearl Hartley, October 5, 1920 – March 1, 2024

She had the most beautiful smile. Our dad always said he married the best-looking girl in Johnston County. Born to the late Lewis and Annie Holloman on October 5, 1920, she is also predeceased by husband R.B. Hartley; grandson, Jeff Baker; son-in-law, Harold Rogers; 2 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by daughters: Brenda Rogers (partner Ken), Carolyn Griggs (partner Bill), granddaughter Cathy Baker, step grand-daughter Cassie Ennis (Mickey). Great grandchildren, Holly Baker and Heather Baker (Tommy) and several great-great grandchildren.

Special thanks to her friend and hairdresser, Carolyn Aycock, and all the care and kindness from the wonderful CNAs at Smithfield Manor. Special thanks to Ken Spivey and Bill White for helping us care for mom during her later years. My sister and I hug and shed tears but we know eventually our tears will become beautiful memories of our mom, and we know she is in a better place. To know mom was to love her and her beautiful smile.

A service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. Todd Fair will be officiating the service. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Parrish Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
