Mason Carl Lee, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, in Barbour Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Smithfield. Born on July 12, 1933, in Unity, South Carolina, he was a son to the late Bonnie Roland Lee and Gertrude Davis Lee.

Mason was a member of First Baptist Church in Cheraw, South Carolina. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Newry, South Carolina. Living in many different places throughout his life, Mason served as the president of the Woodridge townhome association in Henderson, North Carolina and was a member of the Jaycees in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Mason was a humble and kind man who loved people and never met a stranger. He was married to his loving wife and companion Mary for 73 years.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

In addition to his parents, Mason is preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Lee.

Mason is survived by his son, Chevis Lee and wife Melba of Zebulon, NC; daughter, Ann Garner and husband George of Lancaster, SC; brothers, Beiman Lee and wife Pat and Henry Lee and wife Mary all of Seneca, SC; sisters, Jewel Morton of Seneca, SC and Lucy Rholetter and husband Sammy of Westminster, SC; and many loving nieces and nephews.
