Obituary

Mary Beth Parrish, 58, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away at her home on June 24, 2026. Born Mary Beth Pounds on December 13, 1967, in Columbus, Nebraska, Beth was raised in Nebraska and carried her Midwestern roots with her throughout her life.

Beth graduated from high school in Harvard, Nebraska, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Creighton University in Omaha. She later attended Arizona State University College of Law, receiving her Juris Doctor in 1992.

She was the beloved daughter of Walter R. Pounds and Mary Jane Foy Pounds. Beth was preceded in death by her father, Walter Pounds.

In her early adult years, Beth was married to Andrew Parrish for more than twenty years. During his service in the United States Air Force, they made their home in North Carolina, where they raised their son, John R. Parrish, who now proudly serves in the Air Force himself.

Beth devoted part of her career to Habitat for Humanity, where she held several leadership roles, and she continued to serve others throughout her working life. She had a special love for animals and was always eager to rescue a dog in need. Beth treasured time outdoors with family and friends, especially hiking, camping, and visiting the beach. Active in her community, she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the joy she found in the company of those she loved.

Beth is survived by her son, John Parrish and his wife, Estefani Cota; her mother, Mary Jane Foy Pounds; her sister, Jennifer Pounds Iliff, and her husband, John Iliff, together with their children, Hayden and Audrey Iliff; her sister, Sarah Pounds Braswell, and her husband, Chris Braswell, together with their children, Logan and Olivia Braswell; and her brother, Eric Pounds, and his children, Jaxon and Cameron Pounds.
