Mary Ellen Anders Hendricks, 81, of Selma, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Smithfield Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Smithfield, NC.

Born on April 19, 1945, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Wilson Fretz Anders and Mary Ellen Moyer Anders. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Arlene Freed, Doris Kolb, and Emma Keeler.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose life was centered around family, love, and simple joys.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward: her husband, John Hendricks; her daughters, Kelly Schneider and husband Frank, Kimberly Bargher, Rachelle Alderfer and husband Trevor, Alecia Linko and husband Mike; her son, Mark Hendricks and wife Melissa; her brother, Wilson Anders and wife Jean; her sisters, Esther Nice and Jeanie Detweiler and husband Vern. Mary was especially proud of her growing family, which includes 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.

Mary found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She attended Calvary Church of Souderton, PA for many years. She loved spending her time visiting yard sales and thrift stores, always on the lookout for a special find. She also enjoyed playing board games, baking for her loved ones, and camping with her family—creating lasting traditions and memories for those closest to her. Mary also had a special love for her dogs, who brought her comfort and companionship thru the years. Her warm spirit, kind heart, and love of togetherness made every gathering feel special.

Mary will be remembered for her gentle nature, her devotion to her family, and the joy she found in everyday moments. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and family will live on in all who knew her.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on June 13th 2:00-5:00 at
