Martha Throckmorton Pope, age 72, peacefully passed away Monday September 19, 2022 surrounded by her adoring family at the State Employees Credit Union Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. She was born in Johnston County, NC on August 19, 1950 to the late Asa Throckmorton and Effie Holland Throckmorton.

A funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC on Saturday September 24, 2022 at 11 AM with the Rev. Kristin Tucker and the Rev. Lee Colbert officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens on Hwy 301 + Packing Plant Road in Smithfield, NC.

Ms. Pope is survived by daughters, Brooke Pope Navarro and husband Jeff of Smithfield, Lauren Elias of Port Charlotte, FL; brother, Bill Throckmorton of Chelmsford, MA; grandchildren, Gabriel Navarro, Jacob Navarro, Lucas Navarro, David Dermer, Kaitlyn Dermer, Jeffery Elias Jr., Jonathan Elias and Joshua Elias;

Ms. Pope was a devoted member of First Baptist Church and regularly attended Bible Study Fellowship, Bizzell Sunday School Class and was a member of the Rose Manor Garden Club. Her greatest joy was spending time with and caring for her grandchildren. She also loved fellowshipping with the elderly.
