Marian Harris Edwards, age 74, passed away on May 16, 2023 at Smithfield Manor Nursing and Rehab in Smithfield, NC, after an extended struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Born December 11, 1948 in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Lory Harris, Jr. and Mary Ellen McDougald of Wilson, NC.

Marian obtained her teaching degree from East Carolina University. She served as a middle school teacher at Princeton School for 30 years and her students loved her dearly. She was an avid reader, she loved her family, and had a special place in her heart for her pets.

A graveside service will be held at Princeton Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023. The service will also be streamed and accessible at www.parrishfh.com.

In addition to her parents, Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Phil Edwards. She is survived by her brother, John Lory Harris III and wife Cathy of Charlotte; step-daughter, Jessi Edwards of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Edwards of Princeton, Rosemary Edwards Gatewood and husband Doug of Four Oaks, Sara Moore and husband Steve of Goldsboro; brothers-in-law, Bruce Edwards and wife Rene of Stella, Steve Edwards and wife LuNelle of Princeton; nephews John Lory Harris IV and wife Kristine of Gibsonville, Jonathan Gatewood and wife Jamie of Charlotte, Patrick Gatewood and wife Lindsey of Raleigh; numerous other nieces and nephews, and her beloved dogs, Leroy, Tuffy, and Maxie.
