Smithfield – Margie Lee McGee Baker, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home on July 1, 2025.

Born on September 26, 1935, in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Lillie McGee. Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, James Sherrill Baker; son, Anthony Baker; and sisters, Athelene Langdon and Mary McLamb.

Margie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was known for her warm heart and her gift for cooking, often bringing family together around the table with the many delicious meals she lovingly prepared. She loved crafts and sewing.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens.

She is survived by her children: Dennis Baker and wife Elaine of Smithfield, and Cynthia Baker Hicks of Wendell; sisters: Brenda Wester of Zebulon, Malinda Pope of Angier, and Kay Dean of Garner; grandchildren: Cameron Baker, Brandon Baker, Grant Hicks, Tyler Baker, and Lauren Prince; great-grandchildren: Rose Hicks, Rory Hicks, Lynnox Baker, and Crews Baker; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Baker.

Margie will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
