Luther B. Powell Jr., age 78, of Princeton, went to meet his Lord and Savior on July, 18, 2023, in UNC Johnston Health of Smithfield. Luther was born in Wilson County on May 30, 1945, to the late Luther B. Powell Sr. and Daphne Creech Smith. He is preceded in death by his step fathers, Wallace Strickland and Clinnon Smith.

Luther was employed at the Stackhouse of Goldsboro for many years until the company closed and moved. He then worked for more than twelve years at Thyssen Krupp in Selma. Luther has had declining health for the last several years. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the burial to follow in Price Cemetery in Pine Level. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Mrs. Barbara R. Powell; sisters, Brenda Peedin (Gerald) of Selma, Teresa Price (Leland) of New Bern, and Janet Kleinert (Erskine) of FL.
