Luna Massengill Lee, 95, of Packing Plant Road, died on September 19, 2016, surrounded by her family at the SECU Hospice House. Born in Johnston County on November 3, 1920, she was the last surviving of the nine children born to the late Ambrose Lester and Louie Margaret Allen Massengill. Luna was a wonderful mother and homemaker, and she enjoyed word-find puzzles in her spare time. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she loved watching them play ball.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Corinth United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Hills of Neuse Memory Gardens.

Surviving are her son; Robert A. "Bob" Lee (Penny) of Benson; daughters Peggy L. Stevens, Sue L. Johnson (Michael), and Dianne L. Parker (Billy), all of Smithfield; grandchildren, Michael Ray Johnson, Jr., Emily Renee Johnson Fulcher, William Robert Parker, Daniel Harvey Parker, and Christopher Ambrose Parker; great-grandchildren, Dillon Fulcher, Kevin Fulcher, Mason Johnson, and Lauren Johnson.

Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elmond "Bill" Lee, and by her son-in-law, Douglas Stevens.

The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Wednesday September 21, 2016 at Underwood Funeral Home in Smithfield. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Corinth United Methodist Church, 4170 US HWY 301 South, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
