Smithfield – Helen Louise Davis Canupp, age 91, died Friday evening, June 26, 2020, in the SECU Hospice House.  Born August 9, 1928, in Johnston County to the late Donnie and Julia Jones Davis.  She was preceded in death by her husband's Willard "Giggs" Creech and Leonard Jennings "Tommy" Canupp; 4 brothers, Donnie Davis, Jr., Bobby Davis, Billy Davis and Rudolph Davis and 2 sisters, Alice Earp and Shelby Wright. In her earlier years, she worked at Julia's Dress Shop in Smithfield and later had her own in-home childcare service.  Louise was a long-time member of Sharon Baptist Church where she served as a youth Sunday school teacher.  She would often take her students to the local McDonald's for snacks.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Sharon Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.  Due to the current COVID-19 Executive Order, there will be no formal visitation, but Mrs. Canupp will be available for viewing and for those wishing to pay respects, at Parrish Funeral Home, Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Surviving her are her children, Dennis Canupp and wife Mary Lena of Four Oaks,  Bob Canupp and wife AmyLee of Richlands and Sue Canupp Marion and husband Phil of Pfafftown; brothers, John Davis of Four Oaks and Joe Davis of Snead's Ferry; sisters, Doris Johnson of Smithfield and Julia Larson of Virginia Beach, VA; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Canupp Elliott, David Canupp, Jordan Canupp and wife Brittaney, Zane Canupp, Cameron Canupp and Keara Canupp Quijano and husband Jocel and one great-grandson, Kenan Beasley.
