Lori Overbee Byrd, age 61, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Duke University Hospital in Durham. Born, December 13, 1963, in Johnston County, NC, she was a daughter of Hilda Overbee and the late James Overbee.

When you think of Lori, you think of family, a daughter for her mother, a sister for her siblings, a wife for her husband, a mother for her children, and a Gigi for her grandchildren, one of her proudest titles.  She was so caring, selfless, and kind, always going the extra mile for the ones she loved, especially her grandbabies.  Planning birthdays, holidays, and special occasions brought her so much joy because she treasured each precious family moment.  Lori always had a way of making others feel special through her actions and words.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Price Cemetery.

Lori is survived by her husband, Gary Byrd; daughter Jessica Collings, and husband, Thomas Collings; son Caleb Byrd, and wife, Jenna Byrd; grandchildren, Lily Collings, James Collings, and Crew Byrd; mother Hilda Overbee; sisters Debbie Casey, and husband Danny Casey, Sherry Strickland, and husband Jimmy Strickland; and brother Tim Overbee and wife Patty Overbee.
