Lonnie Bell Sawyer, Jr. age 78, of Zebulon, NC, took his final lap on Sunday, July 2, 2023 in WakeMed of Raleigh, with his daughter and son-in-law June & Gary Daughtry and his companion and partner, of 31 years, Patricia Judd all by his side.  Born February 7, 1945 in Norfolk, VA to the late Lonnie Bell and Helen Beatrice Ashley Sawyer.  He was preceded in death by his sisters, Faye Rhodes and Doris Bryant.  Lonnie was a big fan of NASCAR – his favorite drivers were Mark Martin and Kevin Harvick.  He also loved watching his favorite NFL football team, the Washington Redskins (Commanders). He enjoyed watching Christmas movies, especially ones about Jesus.  One of his favorites was "The Little Drummer Boy"

A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at June's home at 114 Collinswood Dr., Zebulon, NC, 27597.

Surviving, in addition to his daughter, son-in-law and companion are his brothers, Lloyd Sawyer and Darrell Sawyer both of Chesapeake, VA and Kenny Sawyer and his wife Marie of Jacksonville, FL and his grandson, Dakota Daughtry.
