Linzey Gray Toole, Sr., age 84, of Smithfield, passed away on September 7, 2021 at his home.  Born in Johnston County on August 21, 1937, he was the son of the late Sampson Herman and Annie Bell Wadsworth Toole.  He is also preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie M. Toole, two sisters, Faye T. Ryan and Brenda T. Lee; and a granddaughter, Abigail Kearney.  Linzey was an active lifetime member of Sardis Baptist Church.  He serviced in Tahiti and Antarctica while in the United States Navy.  Mr. Toole loved farming and gardening and for many years worked two jobs.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 10, at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with Rev. Don Dewberry officiating.  Burial will follow in the cemetery at Sardis Baptist Church.  Due to Covid concerns, there will not be a visitation and masks and social distancing are required.  For those not able to attend, the service will be broadcast on the Parrish Funeral Home Facebook page.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Creech Toole; children, Donna Toole Ball (Hayden) of Princeton, Linzey G. Toole, Jr. of Smithfield; Howard David Toole of Panama Canal, Belinda Toole Pelletier (Bobby) of Dayton, TN, Christopher Toole of Charleston, SC, and Lynn Toole Hill (Jeremy) of Bailey; grandchildren, Phillip Batten, Bob Scott (Jenni), Adrienne Morrissey, Alex Strickland (Jacob), Amanda Jacobs (Ron), Patricia Horton, Stacey Lee (Bill), Jilleana Slone (David), Christa Hinson (Darren), Brittany Pettigrew (Brandon), Johnathan Toole, Jacob Kearney, Matthew Hill and Arnor Oydna; brother Kenneth Toole of Dayton, TN; sister Annette Neumann of Smithfield; and 31 great grandchildren.
