Lila Price Cockrell, age 86, of Smithfield, formerly of Kenly, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014. Mrs. Cockrell was born on May 28, 1928 to the late Charlie and Polly Aycock Price. She was born and raised on a Johnston County farm and became a farmer's wife when she married Percy Felton Cockrell who passed away in 1979. In her later years she spent her time as a nanny. Mrs. Cockrell was a member of Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Cockrell Family Cemetery on Glendale Road near Kenly. Rev. Curtis Jones will officiate. Surviving are her sons, Jerry Cockrell of Kenly, Jeff Cockrell and wife Roxanne of Kenly; a sister, Ella Vay Sullivan of Smithfield; grandchildren Olivia Cockrell and Cole Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
