Leon Woodrow Cannady Jr. age 78, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at his home in Selma. Born in Sampson County, on November8, 1944, he was a son to the late Leon Woodrow Cannady Sr. and Annie Laurie Matthis Cannady.

Leon was a member of Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church. He graduated in 1967 from The University of North Carolina, was a lifelong UNC fan and sports fanatic. Leon Worked for many years for the NC Department of Insurance, and authored several laws during his time governing Insurance Companies. He also served as the president of his family owned ambulance service company from 1997-2001. Leon loved his family dearly, and enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the movies.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church. 600 N Pollock St, Selma NC 27576

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Kyle Cannady and wife Sarah of Selma; daughter, April Vanessa Cannady of Alpharetta, Georgia; and grandchildren, Mia Smith, Isla Kim, and Zoe Cannady.
