LaVee Holt Bailey departed this earth peacefully on the morning of November 22, 2023 in Smithfield, NC surrounded by her family at home.

LaVee was born June 1, 1925 in Kenly, NC one of 8 children of Walter and Carrena Williams. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Rowan Holt, Jr (1947-1967) and her second husband Robert Bailey (1993-2003). She is survived by her children Jane Gaston Holt of Winston-Salem, Richard Rowan Holt III of Smithfield, and William Dawson Holt (Lane) of Marietta, GA along with 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

LaVee graduated from Campbell University and was a retired kindergarten teacher at Four Oaks Elementary school. She was an active member at St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she served on the altar guild for many years.  Vee was a lively competitor, earning a Gold Life Master in bridge. She loved nothing better than spending time with friends and family.

The Holt family would like to give sincere and heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team of caregivers who loved her and took special care of her during her last years at home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 218 S. 2nd Street, Smithfield, NC 27577.

A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Smithfield on Saturday, January 13 at 2PM. A reception at St. Paul's Parish Hall will follow immediately after the service.
