Smithfield - Laurra Gaye Bowling passed away peacefully on January 1, 2020 at Transition Hospice after a long battle with illness. Laura was born on May 16, 1960 and was raised in Southern California until she moved in 1996 to Smithfield NC to raise her daughter. Laurra was a member of First Baptist Church in Smithfield. She was well known for her strong faith. She collected bibles, loved to read, had a passion for jewelry, loved flea market treasures and constantly reminded everyone to "Be blessed". Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her daughter strong values that have served her well. She enjoyed her regular Face Time chats with her granddaughter and weekly window visits with her daughter and granddaughter at the nursing home. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Laurra is survived by her daughter Andrea Johnson and husband Jeff; granddaughter, Ava Grace Johnson; sister, Heather Livingston. A Life Celebration will take place in the chapel of Parrish Funeral home Tuesday January 5th at 10:30am. In Lieu of flowers donations can made to First Baptist Church in Smithfield who made such a huge difference in Laurra's and her families lives.
