Smithfield – Larry Wade Hamilton, age 83, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, in Barbour Court Nursing and Rehab. Born, March 29, 1941, in Johnston County, he was a son of the late Jessie L. Hamilton and Martha Viola Hamilton. Wade is preceded in death by his special friend Ms. Faye Wiggins. Wade worked for many years with the Rogers construction company. His passion was for bluegrass music. He was the manager of a bluegrass band, as well as master of ceremonies. In his earlier years, he also had his own radio program on WBZB Radio. Wade will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. in the Sullivan Family Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Hamilton Watkins (Mike) of Clayton, son, Larry Wade Hamilton Jr. (Cindy) of Elm City, sister, Vickie O'Neal of Bailey, grandchildren; Lauryn Godwin (Ryan), Morgan D. Watkins (Alex Hedrick), Clay Elliott Hamilton (Akana), great-grandchildren; Redden A. Hedrick and Noey Hamilton.
