Kenneth Robert Ferguson Jr., eighty-eight, born November 13, 1933, died peacefully surrounded by his family on August 13, 2022.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Ferguson; daughter Wendy Heard (Bill),  son Scott Ferguson (Kelly), daughter Lori Bailey (Doug), son Berry Skinner (Darlene) and daughter Brooke Sutton (Bill). He was preceded in death by brother Tom Ferguson and daughter Stacey Ferguson.

Ken was a local of Smithfield, North Carolina, and the friendliest neighbor you could find. During his life he raised six wonderful children and had a beautiful forty-eight-year love story with his wife Sue. He cultivated lasting and impactful relationships with friends, was an active member of his church, a strong man of faith, and an extraordinary human being. His smile was contagious, his personality larger than life and anyone that met Ken knew he never met a stranger.

In his life he worked nineteen years at Pelton & Crane Company, first as an assistant sales manager, later becoming President of the company. He went on to be President of S.S. White Company. In retirement he founded K.R. Ferguson Technologies Inc., which supplied veterinarian health products. Ken was a part of the vestry and a member of the Brotherhood at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, helping to serve through readings, communion and offering support to members of the congregation. Through the years Ken volunteered with Meals on Wheels, delivering meals locally to the Smithfield community.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Parrish Funeral home from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 18 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 11am. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Smithfield.
