Kathy Lawler Kowalski, 78, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Transitions Hospice Home in Raleigh.

Born on April 13, 1948, in Westchester County, New York, Kathy was the second of three children born to the late John and Kathleen Lawler. Throughout her life, she was known for her kindness, unwavering devotion to her family, and the genuine friendships she cultivated over the years.

Kathy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She shared a special bond with her church family at St. Ann Catholic Church, where she faithfully volunteered at the annual International Food Festival and remained an active member of the Ladies Guild. Her faith, compassion, and willingness to serve others were evident in all that she did.

Above all, Kathy loved her family deeply. She found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved.

Kathy is survived by her husband, David J. Kowalski; her loving daughters, Tracy Roche (Joe Roche), Kelly Lloyd, and Heather Waechter (Darren Waechter); her cherished grandchildren, Kayleigh Roche, Hunter Waechter, Matthew Waechter, and Addy Lloyd; her sisters, Adrienne Lawler and Mary Harris; and her nephew, Michael Harris.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 4057 U.S. Highway 70 Business West, Clayton, North Carolina 27520. A Columbarium entombment will immediately follow the Mass, with a reception hosted afterward by the St. Ann's Ladies Guild in the Parish Center.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jeremiah Boles and the entire staff of the UNC Cancer Center for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided Kathy throughout her journey.

In lieu of flowers, Kathy's wish was that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Kathy will be deeply missed by her family and all her many friends.
