It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathy Mae Bryan, age 70, of Clayton from a long illness on Sept 14, 2022. Kathy did not suffer and was with friends and family at the end.

Kathy was born in Smithfield and attended High School at SSS. She graduated from Appalachian State and NC State University with her Master's degree in Special Education, and taught in Wake County and Johnston County High Schools. Kathy was very special to her students and her students were special to her. She enjoyed both playing and listening to music, and spent her spare time following NC State sports.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11:00AM at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Sally Mae Boob; husband, Mike and son, Patrick; her sisters, Barbara and Pam; brother, Tony; niece, Angel Howard, her husband Richie, and children, Josh, Megan, and Caleb. Kathy was predeceased by dad, Sarge Robert Boob, and sister, Judy Woodard.
