Julian Brian Marshall, 53, of Smithfield, North Carolina, passed away in the early morning of January 15, 2023 at his home.

Brian was born on January 4, 1970 and was preceded in death by his parents Julian Fussell Marshall, Dorothy Jean Smith Marshall and  Eula Hoskins (Boots) Marshall.

Brian is survived by his brothers Corbett Marshall and Brian K. Parker, his mother Elaine F. Marshall, and his sisters Dyanna Daugherty (deceased), Lela Heckler, Joni McManaman (deceased) and Karen Parker Wiggs. Brian is also survived by a large family of cousins, nephews, nieces. Brian touched a lot of lives and is also survived by a chosen family of friends.

To say Brian marched to the beat of a different drum would be an understatement. In fact, Brian might have been the drum. He could talk to anyone about anything and usually did - for hours. He was incredibly loyal and if he cared for you he had your back - always.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2PM on Saturday January 21, 2023 at Wesley Hall in Centenary United Methodist Church, 140 E Market St. in Smithfield. Visitation will be from 2 - 3 with a short service at 3 where friends will be invited to share a few words or a story if they like.
