Smithfield – Joyce Marie Futch, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday November 29, 2024 at her home in Smithfield. She was born in Johnston County on June 5, 1941 to the late Marvin McLamb and Pauline Allen McLamb. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny "Rusty" Futch.

The family will receive visitors at Underwood Funeral Home on Tuesday December 3, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Underwood Funeral Home. Burial will be held immediately after the service in Hills of the Neuse Memory Garden.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Futch of Smithfield, Shane Futch, and wife Sara of Four Oaks; sister, Charlotte Woodall of Lenoir; brothers, Billy McLamb of Four Oaks, Bobby McLamb of Four Oaks, Glen McLamb of Pine Level; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Mary Molinero for the care she provided Joyce over the last few months.

Joyce loved travelling and had visited almost 48 states in her travels. She loved spending time outdoors whether it be planting flowers and tending land at her farm of being at the Pamlico River collecting sharks' teeth. She was also known to enjoy recording events with her video camera and even narrating the stories and events she was filming.
