It is with sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Ranucci Jr, age 92, of Smithfield, North Carolina. Joseph's parents were Hazel (Lounsbury) and Joseph Ranucci of Syracuse, New York, who predeceased him. His siblings were Chester Thomas, Elizabeth (Floreal) Prieto and Dolores Petta. Tom and Betty predeceased him as did his infant grandson, Johnathan. Joe was a veteran and attended Syracuse University on the GI Bill. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  His career included time at Bell Labs, General Electric, Radiation and Sensormatic. Joe married Marion Ponzo (Kolceski) in 1964 and became stepfather to her daughters. In 1967, the family moved from Syracuse to Melbourne Beach, Florida and later to Fort Lauderdale. He was a volunteer fireman in Melbourne Beach and Plantation.   After Marion died, Joe's career took him to North Carolina where he met and married Patricia Rose (Price). After retirement, he volunteered through the Veteran's Administration. When Patricia died, Joe moved in with his stepdaughter, Rebecca. He is survived by his sister Dolores, his stepdaughters, Sharon (Robert) Hill, Rebecca (Christopher-deceased) Beasley, Mary Beth (Joseph) Boone, and Rebecca's remaining children, Nichole Hill and Marshall McCall. He is also survived by Patricia's children and their families, and many nieces and nephews. Joseph will be cremated and buried in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, North Carolina. As per his wishes, no memorial service will be held.
