John Lee McLean, age 77, died early Monday morning, December 23, 2019 in Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Born October 24, 1942 in Onslow County he was a son of the late John D. and Jennie Swinson McLean. He was preceded by his brother, Len McLean. John was a member of Wilson's Mills Baptist Church where he served as an ordained deacon. He was a retired fireman with Wilson's Mills Fire Department and was an active member of the Whitley Heights Water Board.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2019 in Wilson's Mills Baptist  Church with Rev. Billie Lawson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the church just prior to the service. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 in Beddard Family Cemetery in Richlands.

Surviving are his wife, Mary McLean; son, Brian McLean and wife Debbie of Smithfield; daughter, Donna Gibbons and husband Terry of Smithfield; sister, Delma Allen and husband Harley of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Dara Keith and husband Ridge, River McLean and fiancée Bailee Mills, Justin McLean and fiancée Heather Crocker; Jacob Gibbons, and John Gibbons; and great granddaughter, Journey Rose Keith.
