John Mark Jr., born in Brooklyn, on April 6, 1945, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, in North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, John, mother, Ellie, brother, Gunther, and daughter, Kathleen.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Rizzardi, and her husband, Glenn. He was a beloved grandfather to Matthew, Daniel, Grace, and Noah.
John, better known as Poppie, was a devoted family man, cherishing the time spent with his grandchildren above all. He had a passion for food and travel and was a long-time New York Rangers and Giants fan. He enjoyed skiing, the outdoors, traveling, yard work, photography, and had a special love for animals and his antique car. He also loved watching sports and enjoyed playing chess. He was known for his key phrases and booming voice!
Whether it was lending a helping hand or providing support in times of need, John's presence was a source of comfort and strength for many.
His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Selma Civic Center on July 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
