Edith Joan Bridgers Langley, age 69, died Monday afternoon, February 27, 2023, in UNC Johnston Health.  Born September 15, 1953, in Johnston County to the late Harvey Lester and Nannie Barbee Bass Bridgers, she was the widow of James Edward Langley and was preceded in death by her only son, James Daniel Langley.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lonnie Grey Bass and James Earl Bass.  Joan retired from Johnston Memorial Hospital as an LPN after more than 30 years.  She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church on Buffalo Road in Selma.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Nichols and the Rev. Allen Peacock, officiating.  Burial will follow in the cemetery at Tee's Chapel FWB Church.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Surviving are her sister, Carol Bridgers Avera of Selma; brothers, Alfred Ray Bass and Ronald Glenn Bass both of Kenly; sister-in-law, Faye Bass of Kenly; niece, Cindy Bass Thornton of Pine Level and nephews, Allen Ray Bass of Middlesex, Roy Lee Bass of Williston, FL and Jeffrey Shane Bass and wife, Emily of Kenly.

Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 4627 Buffalo Road, Selma, NC  27576.
