Jessie Owens Falls was born January 15, 1950, in Johnston County, NC and passed on
May 10, 2025, at the age of 75 in Clayton, NC under the care of The Enclave where she
faced her death with laughter, dignity, tears and the best supportive staff. Jessie is
preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by her mother Shirley Taylor, stepfather
Edward Taylor and grandmothers Elizabeth Ellington and Jessie Owens whom she
missed dearly. Jessie's family, Mark Falls, Melissa Falls Lyon (Brandon Lyon) and
granddaughters, Madison Lyon Vazquez DeLeon (Fernando Vazquez DeLeon) and
Emily Lyon, brother, Carl Owens (Tina Holcomb) and sister Marjorie Owens (Jana
Blankenship) as well as other family members who will miss her dearly but know they
will see her one day in heaven. Jessie lived in Roanoke, Va and Vinton, VA for most of
her pre-teenage and adult life where she had her children, career, church family, many
friends, family, and so many memories. Jessie moved to Raleigh, NC to be closer to her
son near the end of her life. Anna Leffell, family friend said it best; "Jessie, you have
given your love to your family, you have supported, mentored and compassionately
loved as Christ has asked us to do. You have shown unconditional love when others
would have turned their hearts away from a circumstance. Your journey in life has been
filled with love, laughter but also with heartache and tribulations. You were surrounded
by love, by those there with you and those praying for you at the time of your death."
Jessie touched lives everywhere she went while being quiet and reserved with love and
support for all she chose to be close with. Her children, grandchildren and friends will
miss her immensely and truly were blessed to have known her.
