Jerry Ray Brown, 72, of Clayton, passed away at SECU Hospice House on Saturday, May 31, 2025 after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. Graveside funeral services will be held at the Knollwood Memorial Park, 4362 US-70 BUS, Clayton, NC 27520 on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 11am with Elder Phillip Whittington officiating.

Mr. Brown was born in Johnston County on March 30, 1953, to the late Johnnie Barden and Annie Pearl Thompson Brown Olive. He was a 1973 graduate of Smithfield-Selma Sr. High School and worked, until retirement, at Ranch Redwood Products, Inc., in Smithfield. He attended Little Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Jerry loved to be around his family and friends and enjoyed search and find word puzzles, Andy Griffith Shows, country music (especially Randy Travis), and TV wrestling. And certainly not to go unmentioned was the mutual love and adoration that Jerry shared with his
canine pals, Griffin, Bella, Buddy, Barden and Duke. His favorite pet, Teeney, passed away several years ago.

Survivors include dedicated and caregiver; Brother Craig Olive of the home, and brother Dennis Brown of Columbia, SC, sisters Gloria B. Creech of Pikeville and Angela Olive of Dudley and sister-in-law Shelby L. Brown of Knightdale. Also surviving, are stepsister and stepbrothers, Terry Olive Nichols of Clayton and James P. "Tip" and Martin M. "Fuzzy" Olive of Smithfield. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and stepfather, James C. Olive, Jerry was predeceased by several siblings, Brenda B. Dixon of Brown Summit, Wayne Brown of Supply, Danny Brown of Knightdale, Betty Olive Carroll and Cathy Olive Daniels of Clayton, Battle R. "Bill" Olive of Smithfield and Ronnie K. Olive of Clayton.

The family wishes to thank Jerry's special doctors, Dr. Renee Watson and staff, Dr. Benjamin Atkeson and staff, caregivers, especially Ms. DeShoan Riddick and Ms. Dominique Royster, JCAT drivers especially, Ms. Kim Ellis, Ms. Amanda Chestnut and the doctors and staff of Johnston Dialysis for their support, assistance and loving care for Jerry through the years. They truly went above and beyond the call of duty.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Little Creek Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Craig Olive 5278 US Hwy. 70 Business-West, Clayton, NC 27520 or to the Pearl Thompson Olive Scholarship at Johnston Community College Foundation. Post Office Box 2350 Smithfield, NC 27577 (Please put in memo line Pearl Thompson Olive Scholarship) Visitation will be after the service.
