Jenny Ren
Gore
Sep 18, 1937 — Jun 16, 2026
Jenny Ren Sholar Gore, 88, passed away peacefully to her heavenly home in the early morning of Tuesday, June 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 18, 1937, in Rose Hill, North Carolina, Jenny was the daughter of the late Roscoe Sholar and Lillian Lanier Sholar. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Leo Gore; her brothers, Alvin Sholar, Edward Sholar, Edgar Sholar, Tyson Sholar, and Laverne "Bun" Sholar; her sisters, Carlotta Edwards and Violet Shelton Sholar; and her great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Marie Narron.
Jenny and her husband owned and operated Gore Hairstyling in Raleigh, N.C., and later in Cedar Point, N.C., for 34 years. While volunteering in the Carteret County and Onslow County school systems, she completed her degrees in education at Coastal Carolina Community College (A.A.S., 1997) and UNC Wilmington (B.A., 2005).
After moving from Cedar Point, N.C., to Wendell, N.C., Jenny began a second career teaching elementary school in the Johnston County and Wake County public school systems. She loved reading, taking neighborhood walks, fishing on the Intracoastal Waterway aboard her husband's Down East workboat with family and friends, and enjoying long conversations while sitting on her garden swing. Jenny was also known for her exceptional talent and lifelong passion for flower gardening and the visual arts.
Jenny is survived by her sons, Stephen M. Gore (Patti) and Mark S. Gore (Lisa); her daughters, Allison Griffin (Steve) and Laura Russell (Neil); her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lu Bonum and Peggy Miller; her brother, Billy Ray Sholar; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family deeply appreciates the compassion and care provided by the Hospice staff, as well as the continued kindness, prayers, and support shared by family and friends during this time.
In lieu of sending cut flowers, the family requests that you honor Jenny's memory by planting a living tree or flowering plant.
