Jean Rose Massengill, age 86, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at her home in Smithfield.

Born in Johnston County on August 25, 1936, she was a daughter to the late Elwood Rose and Beatrice Smith Rose.

Jean was a longtime member of Steven's Chapel Church in Smithfield. She served as a bookkeeper for Princeton High School for many years before working at the chamber of commerce for over 20 years.

A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 with pastor Vernon Braswell and Marvin Ownley officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m., just prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Princeton Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Massengill; brother, Richard Elwood Rose II (surviving wife Sylvia Rose of Smithfield); and sister, Lynda Allen (surviving husband Joe Allen of Clayton).

Jean is survived by her daughters, Renee Wiggs and husband Gary of Smithfield; Angela Faulk and husband George of Smithfield; grandson, Daniel Oliver and wife Stephanie of Smithfield; great grandsons, Luke and James Oliver of Smithfield; and many loving nieces and nephews.
