Jean Langley Eatmon, age 91, went to her eternal home on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Springbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation in Clayton.

Born on November 17, 1934, in Wayne County, Jean was the daughter of the late Willie B. Langley and Nora Bunn Langley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rayland Lee Eatmon, as well as all of her siblings.

Jean was an accomplished seamstress and found great joy in sewing and other creative hobbies. She also loved working in her flower beds and caring for the yard around her home. Following her retirement, Jean and her beloved husband, Rayland, enjoyed traveling together throughout the country.

Above all, Jean treasured her family. She especially loved spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and took great joy in watching her family grow.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Goldsboro. Jean will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Rayland Lee Eatmon. Rev. Dennis Pollock will officiate.

Jean is survived by her son, Chris Eatmon (Carole) of Smithfield; her daughter, Sheila Yelverton (Ricky) of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Will Eatmon, Bryan Eatmon, Morgan Brantley (Aaron), Jana Yelverton, and Jordan Yelverton (Jamie); and her great-grandchildren, George Brantley, Mollee Hill, Mabry Hill, Lennon Yelverton, Elliot Yelverton, and Addison Yelverton.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Jack and Judy Sasser, Jeans neighbors, for their loving care, support, and kindness during Jean’s time of need.

Jean will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
