Selma – Janet Potts Medlin, age 67, passed away Saturday January 20, 2024 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern. She was born in Wayne County on June 21, 1956 to Dobie Reginald Potts and Norma Leigh Mitchell Potts. She is preceded in death by her father, Dobie Reginald Potts.

The family will receive visitors at Selma Baptist Church on Friday January 26, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the church on Friday at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Deans Family Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Haywood Medlin Jr. of Meritt; son, Thomas Haywood Medlin III, and wife Edith Medlin of Gibsonville; sisters, Cathy Hammonds, and Sallie Potts both of Selma; grandchildren, Isabella, Aiden, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Palmer, and Tobias Medlin, all of Gibsonville.

Janet was a former member at Parrish Memorial Baptist Church and Selma Baptist Church, at which she was very involved with the Missions Committees. She was a current member of Bayboro Baptist church and a district member of the Boy Scouts of America. Janet was a special education teachers supervisor for over 33 years with O" Berry Center.
