James Timothy Strickland, age 63, of Pine Level, died on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Born in Johnston County on June 2, 1948, he was the son of the late James Clarence and Thelma Daughtry Strickland. Tim was a loving husband, father, Poppa and friend. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. A private burial will be in the Watson Cemetery.Surviving are his wife, Linda Turner Strickland; daughters, Cherie Grice and husband Billy of Pine Level, Charlot Bennett and husband Brian of Apex; sister, Cecelia Karway of St. Augustine, FL; and six grandchildren, Connor Norris, Chyler Grice, Jesse Grice, Hunter Grice, Brett Bennett and Sophie Bennett. Tim was preceded in death by one sister Cathy Cross of Selma.The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday immediately following the service.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
