James Rufus "Boe" Hewitt, age 59, was born on October 17, 1966 in Tampa, Florida and passed away November 21, 2025 at Wake Med in Raleigh, NC. He was born to Guy Earl Hewitt, Sr., and Judy Lifino Lane.
Boe was preceded in death by his father and mother and brothers, David Lee Hewitt, and William Patrick Hewitt. He is survived by his wife, Rena' Daughtry Hewitt, of Princeton, NC; daughter, Kathlyn Anne "Kathy" Shutt and her husband Levi of Anchorage, Alaska, daughter, Ashley Noel Hewitt, of Princeton. Two precious granddaughters, who brought him great joy, Isla Kate and Adelyn Rose "Addy", brother, Guy Earl Hewitt, Jr. and his wife Robin of Henderson, TN, and sister, Mary "Sissy" H. Harris and her husband Steven and their children Heather Talvacchio (Matthew) and Stephanie Harris, of Grantsboro, NC. special family, sisters-in-law, Kristie Daughtry of Clayton and Lynn D. Hicks her husband Blane who was a special brother-In-law, and their children, Spinner Hicks, and Samantha Hicks all of Princeton.
He was an active member of Hephzibah Baptist Church in Princeton, NC. Not only was this his church, but his extended family whom he loved dearly. He served as Deacon for many years, and was involved in many missions of sharing Jesus. His favorite mission was working with the AWANA Program. He loved every one of the children as though they were his own.
Boe worked at Caterpillar in Clayton, NC for over twenty years and built many friendships through the years.
The family sends a special thank you to the Brogden Fire Department, Johnston County EMS, UNC Hospital in Smithfield, and the many special staff in the ICU Unit at Wake Med in Raleigh for extending great care and compassion to Boe, through his illness.
Visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Hephzibah Baptist Church, 4633 US Hwy 70 E., Princeton, NC, with funeral service and burial to follow at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hephzibah Baptist Church Multi-Purpose Building Fund, which he greatly supported.
