James Edward Pittman, age 89, died on Wednesday, 19 June 2024, at UNC Johnston Health Smithfield. Born in Johnston County on 30 October 1934. He was the son of the late Jasper and Hazel Deans Pittman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Un Cha Kim Pittman and sister Alice Faye Pittman Woodall. He was a graduate of Selma High School. Attended Atlantic Christian College. He was employed by the Clerk of Superior Court as a Deputy Clerk from 1955 to 1957. Enlisted in the US Air Force on 13 December 1957. Served for 28 years retiring in the grade of Senior Master Sergeant on 30 September 1986. Primary Duty was Personnel Superintendent. Served overseas in Canada, Germany, England, and Korea. Was assigned stateside duty in NC, VA, Illinois, Colorado, California, Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida. After retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by Civil Service, Department of Defense by the US Navy for 12 years.

Services will be held Monday, 24 June 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Parrish Funeral Home. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
