Mr. Jack S. Daughtry, 79, husband of Geanie Daughtry, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. Jack was born on September 13, 1943, in Johnston County, NC, son of the late Hubert Daughtry and Elizabeth Hill Daughtry. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, a graduate of NC State, with a degree in Applied Agriculture, and retired from Agriculture Chemical Sales. Jack was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church, where he served over the years as Church Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent and President of the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of the Lake City Rotary Club and also served on the Board of Directors for Florence County Disability and Special Needs Board.Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Daughtry; sisters-in-law, Nancy Daughtry and Bette Daughtry; brother-in-law, Robert Powell.
Surviving are his wife, Geanie Daughtry of Lake City; son, Slate T. Daughtry of Lake City; daughter, Paige (Louis) DiMuzio of Summerville; grandsons, Trey DiMuzio of Summerville, Jack (Autumn) DiMuzio of Daniel Island, Sam DiMuzio of Summerville; brothers, Colonel Ben Daughtry of Maryland, Walter (Gay) Daughtry of Smithfield, NC; sisters, Lola Strickland of Pine Level, NC, Ellen Powell of Atlanta, GA, Lillian (Darryl) Holland of Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family; and a special family friend, Sheriff T.J. (Ginger) Joye, who Jack thought of as his son.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Lake City United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the Lake City United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Park, Hwy 210, Smithfield, NC.
