Hilda Lucille Hamilton Whitley, age 100, went to her heavenly reward on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025. Born March 30th, 1924, in Smithfield, she was the seventh child of Barney and Glendora Hamilton. She married Clifton Whitley who passed away in March 29th, 2003.

She is survived by her son Frank Whitley (Isabell), her son Landis Whitley, her son-in-law Jerry Rose (Rose) and preceded to Heaven by her daughter Judy Rose.

She has six surviving grandchildren, John Whitley (Melissa), Doyle Woodall (Woody), Nelle Horn, David Whitley (Ubel), Andrew Rose (Amy), and Jack Rose (Necah).

She is also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Her family would like to thank her caregivers for the last 8 years: Chrystal, Evonne, Margaretta, Janice, Anne, Nan, Patsy, Veda, and Shirley.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Smithfield at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in her name. 202 S. Fourth St., Smithfield, NC 27577.
