Helen Joan Pegg, age 80, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at the SECU
Hospice House of Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC after a long battle with
cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully, surrounded by family, close
friends, and her beloved dog Mollie.
Helen was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Charles and Mary Weber on
December 30, 1942. She and Allan Harold Pegg were married October 6, 1962
and have enjoyed a loving 60 years of marriage. They lived in Maryland until 2002,
moving to Pittsboro, NC and then Clayton, NC. She is survived by her husband
Allan, her daughter Jennifer Pegg Janson and her husband Karl of Apex, NC; and
her son Todd Allan Pegg and his wife Tina of Fairfield, VA. Helen and Allan were active members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Smithfield,
NC, and enjoyed traveling around the country and the world. Known for her
energy and love of flowers & gardening, Helen will be dearly missed by all who
knew her, especially her many friends and neighbors in Pittsboro and Clayton.
Helen and Jennifer enjoyed the occasional "girls' trip" together, and dog sitting
during each other's independent travels.
Both Helen and her family had nothing but praise and appreciation for the
wonderful folks at Johnston Hematology/Oncology- Clayton, and the Smithfield
SECU Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24th at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's
Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or
the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
