Smithfield – Grady Eugene Atkins, age 86, passed away Friday May 22, 2020 at the SECU Hospice House. He was born in Montgomery County on February 3, 1934 to the late Brevard and Luna Atkins. A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home Tuesday May 26, 2020 at 2 PM with burial to follow at Princeton Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Mr. Atkins is survived by wife of 63 years, Patricia Fail Atkins of the home; Son, Gary Atkins of Four Oaks; Daughter, Karen Atkins of Smithfield; Brothers, Darrell Atkins of Dunn, Danny Atkins of Four Oaks, Michael Atkins of Selma. Mr. Atkins was the owner and operator of Grady E. Atkins and Son Logging Inc. for 30 years. He was a member of the Lions International and enjoyed working in his yard, reading his bible, and listening to sermons on TV on Sunday Mornings.
