Gordon Wayne Parker, 78, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at his home. Born November 23, 1947, he was the son of the late John Parker and Myrtle Mayo. In addition to his parents, Gordon is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Rose Jones Parker; brother, Ronnie Mayo; and sister, Brenda Cobb.
Gordon was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family and ensuring they were always cared for. A loving husband and devoted father, he led by example through his strength, generosity, and commitment to those he loved. Gordon found great joy in his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him happiness and joy. He cherished time spent with loved ones and enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including fishing, dining out, and making special trips to Parker's Barbecue, one of his favorite places. Known for his kind and practical generosity, Gordon believed in helping others succeed. He wouldn't simply offer a handout—he would give a hand up, encouraging and supporting those around him to stand on their own. His wisdom, work ethic, and caring spirit left a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community.
