Smithfield- Glenda Faye Thornton Wheeler, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. She was born a daughter to the late Charlie and Myrtle Barnes Thornton on February 20, 1941 in Johnston County. During her life one of her favorite pastimes was singing and playing the piano. Mrs. Glenda was a member at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church for many years and had a lifelong career as a hairdresser. She is preceded in death by her brother, Charles R Thornton.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with burial to follow at Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Parrish of Smithfield; sister in law, Betty Thornton; nieces, Wendy Pollock, Mindy Burnette and Cindy Strader; nephews, Charles D. Thornton and Allen Thornton; two great nieces; and two great nephews.
