Glenda Bradley
Goolsby
May 8, 1946 – May 22, 2026
Glenda Bradley Goolsby, age 80, peacefully crossed her earthly finish line on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Transitions LifeCare after a long, courageous, and hard-fought battle with Huntington’s disease. She was surrounded by the peace and rest she so richly deserved.
Born on May 8, 1946, in Boaz, Alabama, Glenda was the beloved daughter of the late Milford Willis Bradley and Gwendolyn Posey Sims. She grew up alongside her sisters, Gayla Bradley Lankford and Joan Bradley Thomas. As the eldest of the three girls, Glenda took great pride in her role as a protective and loving older sister, a role she cherished throughout her life.
Glenda attended Etowah High School, where she earned her diploma. In 1964, she married her first husband, Ray Handy. Though their time together was tragically cut short when she was widowed, that chapter remained an important part of her life story.
Later, Glenda met Larry William Goolsby, a native of Apex, North Carolina, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. The two fell in love and were married for many years, making their home in Raleigh, North Carolina, where they raised their family together.
Glenda was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Stacy Annette Moody and Cynthia Dawn Goolsby, who preceded her in death on June 9, 2011. She was affectionately known as “Nina” to her grandchildren, William Austin Moody and Ariel Raven Paradise, both of whom brought tremendous joy to her life. She shared an especially close and cherished bond with her grandson, Austin.
For many years, Glenda dedicated herself to serving others through her work in the medical field as a medical receptionist. Her warm smile and welcoming spirit brought comfort to countless patients. She began her career with Dr. Pearson, where she also formed a lifelong friendship with her dear friend, Peggy Rigsbee. She later continued her work with Doctors Urgent Care in Garner and Cary, where she remained a valued and compassionate presence.
Outside of her career, Glenda enjoyed filling her home with music and found happiness playing the piano. She was also naturally artistic and especially loved drawing and sketching swans. Glenda also enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacy Moody and husband, Randy Moody; grandson, Austin Moody; granddaughter, Ariel Paradise; sister, Joan Thomas; stepsister, Elaine Darbo and husband, John; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Glenda’s life on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
