Pine Level – Georgia “Athlea” Edwards Peedin, age 89, passed away into eternity surrounded by her loving family on Monday April 13, 2026. She was born in Johnston County on August 11, 1936 to the late George Benjamin Edwards and Gertrude Peedin Edwards. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Peedin; brother, Frank Edwards; sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Edwards.
The family will receive visitors at Tee's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church on Thursday April 16, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the church on Thursday at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Athlea is survived by her sons, Timothy Peedin, Tony Peedin (Lisa); daughters, Georgia Braswell (Marcus), Jennifer Woodward (Woody); grandchildren, Lindsey Peedin, Maria Creech (Chris), Nathan Woodward (Cody), Braxton Braswell, Emily Renfrow (Rusty); great grandchildren, Luke Creech, Lydia Creech, Lane Renfrow; many special nieces and nephews.
She ran a home daycare and everyone called her mema. She also assisted her husband in running the family farm. Athlea was always willing to help anyone and she never met a stranger. She loved her church and was a lifelong member that attended as long as she was able. She was a member of the Pine Level American Legion Auxiliary for 70 years and a charter member of the Pine Level Fireman’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to yard sales, fishing and traveling.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to her neighbors and her caregiver, Colleen, as well as Heartland Hospice for their excellent care.
