Gail Raper Johnson, age 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a battle with Dementia/Alzheimers on Sunday, June 11th, 2023, at her home in Middlesex (Stancil's Chapel).  She was born on February 28th, 1954, in Wilson to Kermit and Maybelle (Narron) Raper. She was a 1972 graduate of North Johnston High School and earned her Cosmetology Degree from Mitchell's Hairstyling Academy in Wilson. She married Ray Johnson on May 23rd, 1976 in Dillon, South Carolina. She was the owner and hairstylist at Gail Johnson's Style Shop in Middlesex for 42 years. Gail was a Sunday School teacher and member of Moore's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kenly.  Gail was a loving wife, Mama, Mema, Sister, Special Aunt and friend who will be missed by all those that knew her.

Gail leaves, to cherish her memories, her husband, Ray; two daughters Sonya Grice of Selma, Cami (Cliff) Parrish of Middlesex;  two brothers Johnny (Ruth) Raper, and Jerry (Debbie) Raper; two grandsons, Maverick Grice and Clifton Parrish and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, William Sherwood "Teeny Boy" Raper, Bobby Raper, and her sister Jeanette Raper Boykin.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, 1351 South Pollock Street, from 6:00-8:00 PM, on Thursday, June 15th, 2023.  The graveside service will be held at the Raper cemetery at 11413 NC-42 East, Middlesex on Friday at 11:00 AM. Flowers may be sent to Parrish Funeral Home.
